Weather woes put May 18-20 USMTS events on hold

By USMTS (Webster City, IA) -- USMTS and track officials from the I-94 Speedway, Ogilvie Raceway and Mason City Motor Speedway have announced that this weekend's trio of USMTS Hunt for the Casey's Cup events, May 18-20, are being postponed due to impending unfavorable weather conditions.

"Rain and cold are pretty much inevitable for Fergus Falls on Friday and Ogilvie on Saturday," said USMTS President Todd Staley. "With the long miles of travel for many of our teams, it doesn't make sense to ask them to venture up north to possibly get one show in at Mason City on Sunday, so we are moving the shows to later dates where, hopefully, we have better weather for our promoters, drivers and fans."

This Friday's 4th Annual Casey's General Stores Summersota Nationals at the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn., will now take place on Friday, Aug. 10, while the 7th Annual Chubbs Performance Modified Madness presented by U.S. Army at the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn., will happen on Saturday, Aug. 11.

Sunday's 7th Annual Diamond Jo Casino "All-In 77" at the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, will move to Wednesday, June 27, and will kick off a four-night swing through Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota.

While all events for this Friday and Saturday are canceled, Mason City will host a regular Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series event for their season opener this Sunday, May 20.

The USMTS will be back in action Memorial Day Weekend, beginning with a stop at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., on Friday, May 25. The Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., hosts the series on Saturday, May 26, and the Upper Iowa Speedway wraps up the tripleheader on Sunday, May 27.
