6th Annual Davey Tabor Memorial At Ogilvie Raceway July 22

The sprint car community gathers each year to honor and celebrate the life of sprint car fan, mechanic and car owner Davey Tabor during what has quickly become one of the premier events on the UMSS winged sprint car schedule each season. This year the sixth running of the Davey Tabor Memorial will be be held for the first time at the Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday evening July 22. The event has a five year history with five different winners. Brooke Tatnell, Scotty Thiel, Jerry Richert Jr., Thomas Kennedy and Chris Graf have all parked in Rock Auto Victory Lane to celebrate a Tabor Memorial win. The first four years the event was held at the St. Croix Valley Raceway. Last year it moved to Princeton.

For the 2017 edition, Margaret Tabor has generously added an extra $334 for the winner, $234 for second, $134 in positions three through five, $109 to positions six through ten, $84 from eleventh through fifteen, and an extra $59 from sixteenth through twenty in the UMSS winged sprint car feature race. It is also the third race in the Midwest Power Equipment/GRP Motorsports Series resulting in an additional $1,500 added to several positions in the feature.

The UMSS will run their usual double-round of qualifying races that evening with drivers earning passing and finishing points in both the Ultimate Sprint Heats and Challenge Races. Each Challenge Race will pay the winner $34 courtesy of the Margaret Tabor. The total added contribution to the UMSS winged sprint purse from Margaret Tabor will be $2,298. Margaret Tabor will also add $34 to every finishing position in the Traditional sprint car feature race up to 20 positions. That means the Tabor contribution to both purses alone will tally nearly $3,000. GRP Motorsports is also adding $50 to the top two spots in the Traditional feature race making it $434 to win and $334 for second.

The 25 lap UMSS winged sprint car feature race at Ogilvie Raceway on July 22 is scheduled to pay out as follows: (1) $1,634, (2) $1,034, (3) $734, (4) $634, (5) $534, (6) $434, (7-15) $334, and (16-20) $259. Including the base purse from the track, the tremendous contribution by Margaret Tabor, and the Midwest Power Equipment and GRP Motorsports money, the total feature purse for the night based on 20 cars starting will be $9,305.

Come out and join the racing community on Saturday night July 22 at the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minnesota on what will prove to be a great evening filled with wonderful memories of our friend, Davey Tabor. Both UMSS divisions are on the program, giving race fans a chance to see the winged sprints and the Traditional non-winged sprints race for their only appearance of the season at the Big O.
