Ogilvie, MN (June 7) – With rain in the forecast, Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway successfully completed a full race night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action in just over two hours on Saturday evening. The night was sponsored by Granite Ledge Electrical Contractors and Dave Cain, Bobie Arnes and Keith Tourville took the trophies, and Joey Jensen earned two.
Dylan Kromschroeder and Joey Jensen led the Zoomies Race Engines WISSOTA Super Stocks to the green, and Jensen claimed the immediate lead. Kromschroeder held second while Dexton Koch slid into third. Koch and Kromschroeder had a short battle for second, but Koch got the point and looked ahead at Jensen. Laps passed quickly and cars spaced out with Koch eagerly chasing Jensen, however, Joey Jensen kept his foot down and took the win. Dexton Koch finished second with Dylan Kromschroeder, Dustin Nelson and Ryan Kostreba as the top finishers.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks sped off as their feature began with Jim Gullikson, Thomas Worth and Kyle Howland in a fight for first. Gullikson took the top point, but a few cautions kept the drivers at a slow pace. As the green reappeared, battles on the track were two and three-wide as Gullikson had Keith Tourville and Tommy Pogones as his doors. Gullikson quickly dropped back as he suffered a mechanical problem, and Pogones and Tourville remained side by side. Tourville nosed out the lead, but Pogones charged back to his door until the final laps, when Tourville began to stretch his lead. Keith Tourville went from last to first in the feature event and took his #111 to victory lane. Remaining top points went to; Tommy Pogones, Kyle Howland, Thomas Worth and Lucas Boyce.
David Swearingen and Blake Adams battled door to door the opening laps of the Dirt Race Central WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds feature, until a caution broke up the battle. Adams was in the lead as the drivers retook the green, and Joey Jensen sped to Adams’ door. Adams held the top point, but Jensen didn’t allow him to get away. With the race half over, Jensen worked every groove possible to get by the younger driver. Slower traffic came into view, which allowed Swearingen to join the leaders with them nearly racing three-wide. Adams continued to hold off the competition as Swearingen and Jensen battled for second. With just four laps to go, Adams, Swearingen and Jensen were once again three-wide as they cruised down the back-chute, however this time, Jensen shot into the top point. Adams kept close to Jensen with lapped traffic mixed in, but for the second time of the night, Joey Jensen took the checkers and visited victory lane. Blake Adams finished in second with David Swearingen, Mitch Weiss and Cole Elton as the top drivers.
The Racers X Performance Parts WISSOTA Modifieds were next on the agenda with Jack Rivord and Dave Cain on row one. They battled the first lap, but Cain claimed the top point at the end of lap one. Rivord held second and Jeremy Nelson took third as the top three drivers separated from the pack. They remained close as Nelson and Rivord were door to door behind Cain. Nelson and Rivord were ready to pounce on Cain as laps quickly went by, however Cain slowly stretched his lead the final laps. Dave Cain led the feature from flag to flag and took the win with Jeremy Nelson, Jack Rivord, Jody Bellefeuille and Clayton Wagamon as the top five finishers.
The East Central Sports WISSOTA Hornets closed out the night’s program with Bobie Arnes grabbing the early lead while Adam Throener, Tony Jenson and Brendan Bockwitz went three-wide for second. Throener took the point but Jenson kept a close eye on him from third. A single caution reset the pack of Hornets, but Bobie Arnes remained in command and continued on to take the win. Tony Jenson, Adam Throener, Nikota Larson and Randy Jacoboski finished in positions two through five respectively.
Next Saturday, Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway welcomes the Traditional and Winged UMSS Sprint Cars to the Ogilvie Raceway, along with the Northern Vintage Stock Car racers. WISSOTA Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets will also be in attendance with races starting at 6:30pm.
