By: Tami Jo Kuehn
Ogilvie, MN (May 30) – Saturday night was all about the Kids as it was Meet the Drivers Night at Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway. Drivers lined the track during intermission while kids ran to collect driver cards, candy and treats. The night of racing was sponsored by JPW, and Landon Atkinson and Bobie Arnes took wins, Joey Jensen earned two and Braedyn Fleck got his first ever.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks took the green with Braedyn Fleck and Rachel Boston on row one. They battled the opening laps with Jim Gullikson close behind in third. Fleck secured the top point with Gullikson making the pass for second. Braedyn Fleck slowly stretched his lead over the veteran driver, and took his first feature win ever. Jim Gullikson, Jeff Ekdahl, Rachel Boston and Levi Randt rounded out the top five.
Joey Jensen claimed the immediate lead when the green waved for the Dirt Race Central WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. Husband wife team of Ashley and Wyatt Boyum battled for second while other drivers were two and three-wide for positions. Laps passed quickly as Jensen began to put drivers down a lap. Cars covered the entire race surface as top drivers were intermingled with slower ones, however Joey Jensen was unphased as he took his first set of checkers for the night. Remaining top points were claimed by Ashley Boyum, David Swearingen, Wyatt Boyum and Jason VandeKamp.
The Zoomies Race Engines WISSOTA Super Stocks took the green with Dylan Kromschroeder in the first position. Austin Neimeyer and Joey Jensen battled for second until Jensen advanced forward. Jensen moved to Kromschroeder’s door while Dexton Koch took the third position. Jensen made the pass for first while Koch moved in to challenge Kromschroeder. Dylan Kromschroeder held the second point with Dexton Koch, Ryan Kostreba and Austin Neimeyer as the top drivers on the final lap, and Joey Jensen visited victory lane for his second time of the night.
Bobie Arnes took first and Tony Jenson snagged second when the East Central Sports WISSOTA Hornets took the green flag. Jenson remained close to Arnes while Christian Kast and Adam Throener battled for third. The top four raced door-to-door for points as the race came to a quick close. Bobie Arnes grabbed the win with Tony Jenson, Christian Kast, Adam Throener and Randy Jacoboski as the top five drivers.
The Racers X Performance Parts WISSOTA Modifieds wrapped up the night’s race events with Landon Atkinson and Brennan Gave on row one. Atkinson took the lead with the green waved with Jody Bellefeuille and Gave in second and third. Bellefeuille sped to Atkinson’s door as the top two racers separated themselves from the field. Atkinson slowly put space between himself and Bellefeuille, and he kept that pace until the checkers waved. Landon Atkinson took the win with Jody Bellefeuille, Travis Schulte, Brennan Gave and Don Eischens in points two through five respectively.
All five features were completed in record time without a single caution being triggered. Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway will be in action next Saturday night with another exciting night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action, featuring WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets.
